July 28-Sept. 27: Joan Fenicle: Time Travels at Wild Hearts Gallery
Multi-media artist Joan Fenicle explores how art can transport us to a different time and place. She describes herself a professional wanderer, happiest when exploring the caminos and callejones of New Mexico and Colorado, camera in hand. That is exactly what she had planned to do for this exhibit; visiting favorite places and creating new interpretations in a variety of media. Then a pandemic hit. She had to journey to the reality of creating new images and new stories from her archives of film, slides and digital images. The result was ten all new oil paintings on Belgium linen glued to birch panel. Take the journey with her.
Sept. 12, 1-4 pm: Artist Reception for Joan Fenicle at Wild Hearts Gallery
Sept. 29-Nov. 22: Marcia Rackstraw: PatternsWild at Wild Hearts Gallery
A trip to Africa changed how Rackstraw sees the animals she has depicted in oil, charcoal and print for the past five years. Experiencing wild animals in their environment, looking into their eyes as you become the observed, had a sense of a mystery to be solved, a challenge to know what is being shared. In the new work the realistic becomes fanciful, at once depicting the animal and then slipping into an abstraction of colors and shapes.
Oct. 23, 4-7 pm: Artist reception for Marcia Rackstraw at Wild Hearts Gallery.
