DANA PATTERSON ROTH
[email protected] www.dpattersonroth.com I see life as an adventure to be savored and photography as an accomplice in that adventure. For me photography has always aided in my adventuring and in my self-discovery, pushing me to go further, to closely examine the world around me, and to look deeper into myself. Photography constantly challenges me to look at the world in new and different ways, to question what I see, what I feel, and how to translate that into images that are meaningful to me and to others. My fascination with the visual world of light, shape, color, texture, and mood propels me to try to convey to others the beauty I see within a fleeting moment, a passing shadow, or a trembling leaf. Whether using a camera, a scanner, or my mind’s eye, I am always exploring new ways to understand what photography is and what it means to me. I love to break the rules and have fun with photography, by shooting into the sun, playing with motion in a still medium, and endlessly trying to capture the intangible of what we feel or imagine. The various forms of media now available for printing allow me to add more visual depth and interest by combining the element of wood grain or the reflective light of aluminum. I studied photography and painting at UNM, along with other venues. Photography has been an integral part of my life for 40 years and it continues to be so. |
