The strange and magical images from the dream world are often the inspiration for Riha’s abstract paintings, prints and constructions: personal mysteries available to merge with the viewer’s imagination. Lyrical, bright and sensuous, they invite us to remember and embrace our own experience of nature, spirit, and connection. She works in series: the Arch Series, Secret Symbols, Poem Series, and is currently revisiting the Vessel Series. The sculptural series of figures and bundles include found objects, fiber, beads, wire, wood, and stone. A Placitas resident since 1984, she is the founder of the Placitas Studio Tour. Riha signs her work with only her first name in tribute to the creative influence of her Bohemian/Czech grandparents, for whom she was named.
