“The principles of true art is not to portray, but to evoke.” - Jerzy Kosinski
I’ve been involved with artists my whole working career in the marketing and brand development business. I've always been impressed with and in awe of creative types...
but I was always on the 'business' side of the business.
Many years ago, a friend’s mother, who is an artist, encouraged me to try my hand at 'creating' art ... something I'd not only been intrigued about ... but something I just knew I had to do someday. Her encouragement was instrumental in my doing what I do today: create artwork that others find enjoyable and perhaps even inspiring.
Since then my artistic journey has been one of experimentation and wonder. Utilizing different combinations of mixed media allows me to experiment with texture, color and even dimension and use all the other skills I’ve learned along the way. My collage and watercolor show up in all of my work from my line of gift cards to my fine art prints.
I created my line of 3”x3” gift cards in 2000 to sell at galleries. I thought when a customer bought a one-of-a-kind piece, the card that accompanied this special gift and carried the sentiment should also be one-of-a-kind.Every card is an original and includes a coordinated handmade envelope.
I accidentally created a line of earrings. I had some aluminum wire I was using in a project. Just for fun, I tried to see what I could make out of it. A few wire turns later, I had a pair of earrings. The first time I wore them I not only got compliments … I got orders to make more.
My earring line utilizes aluminum and silver wire, sometimes with copper or bead accents to add interest and sassiness! All are affordable and lightweight.
My wish is that my work become conversational with the viewer. I am not a representational artist because it is not my desire to have the viewer see what I see … but what they see. I want them to collaborate with me, I want to illicit their emotions, I want to share the beauty of the world. But most of all, I hope my work will be the inspiration that awakens something in them.
